Tufts Performance Faculty Recital Series

February 10, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm EST

Mental Health Awareness Concert is a performance to raise sensitivity and attention to mental health in the community. Interspersed in the program will be personal readings from members of the community that will emotionally relate to the pieces. Gaia Altschuler, a licensed psychotherpist, will coordinate the mental health process. The program will feature Prof. Eberhard Klemmstein’s (director of the Music Institute, Erlangen) ‘Violin Sonata No.3’ and Prof. John McDonald’s response to it called “Old-School Material”. Besides performing these violin/piano duos with Prof. McDonald, I will invite students from the Tufts Youth Philharmonic to conclude the program with a large-scale chamber music work such as the Schubert ‘Cello Quintet’ or Tchaikovsky’s ‘Souvenir de Florence’.
