‘Fantasia’ – Emil Altschuler and pianist, Alice Chenyang Xu will perform transcriptions by the great violinist, Jascha Heifetz, of songs by Gershwin including ‘Porgy & Bess’, ‘American in Paris’ and the ‘Preludes’. They will also perform a rarely heard piece inspired by the “jitterbug” by Robert Russell Bennett and popular classics such as Schubert’s ‘Fantasy’, Massenet’s and Sarasate’s ‘Zigeunerweisen’ (Gypsy Airs). This promises to be an entertaining night of popular American songs and classics performed by two outstanding musicians from the Boston area.
